Solovair is a British shoe manufacturer, originally founded as a co-operative in 1881. Over its long history Solovair has made boots for the British army and in 1959 it helped to create the first pair of Dr. Martens boots. Their knowledge of shoemaking goes all the way back to the 13th century. It’s no wonder why they’ve also made shoes for George Cox, Grinders, and Tredair among many others. Still made on the same lasts, leather cutters, and machines used to make those original Docs, Solovair’s air-cushioned shoes carry that history of consistent quality in each step. Boots and shoes are made utilizing various construction methods, including riveted and stitched, adhesives, vulcanized and lastly goodyear welted, which is the preferred and current method of construction. To maintain this undisputed quality, their products are handmade from start to ‘finishing’ in the UK.
